8x8 Calendar Pages

Some more My Digital Studio sharing for you. I did up 8x8 calendar pages for my mom. We both have this frame that is magnetic and has a ribbon across the front. You can stick in 8x8 pages and then pin a calendar grid to the ribbon. Once each month is finished, you throw away the grid and can keep the page for an album. I am printing two sets this year so I can hang in my office too. I'll be sharing 3 pages each day this week. Enjoy!

Is temporarily late :) I was "single-parenting" last night as my husband is away for work. So after homework, bath, laundry folding/putting-away, cleaning up from my scrapbook group, setting up for my card group (all 3 days late in the doing so REALLY had to be done) and trying to get to bed at a decent hour...

I have a digital layout for you this week. I am doing a Disney family album for Xmas presents for my husband's family this year. I wanted to share a couple of my completed pages. I'm also working on a calendar for my mom (that I am going to print two of so I can have one too!!0. I'll try to share some of that as well this week.

This card was done over at Shimmy Shimmy Cocoa Craft and I think it is truly gorgeous. She's used the new Deck the Halls DSP and the Crochet ribbon which are all new as well as the Modern Label punch (was my fav until we got the Decorative Label punch) and the stamp set "Tiny Tags" for the Merry. I just love this ornament stamp. It is so beautiful.

MAN, I love a new catalog! And this Holiday Mini does not disappoint... there are Fall, Halloween, Christmas, Winter and Valentine's Day stamp sets and papers. 10 Minute Wednesday

Here's my 10 minute card for this week. I used the new "Just Believe" set that I think should have been called Just Gorgeous :) I used my Colour Coach to pick out my combination of Marina Mist, Wild Wasabi and Early Espresso. Very, very pretty combo. I see myself using it again and again.

I inked up the stamp with my Stampin' Write markers which is my favorite technique at the moment. I also used the Lattice folder to add texture to the background of the card. And still really diggin' the new 1/8" ribbon. Didn't think I would (thought it was too small) but it really added that perfect something to a card with a big focal point. Or is perfect to add to our Mini Library Clips (watch for a card tomorrow or Friday with that!!)

Thursday - Bonus Layout

Here's another layout for you. I was stuck at home Monday with a sick boy and while he napped, I did this. This is of my older son (the not sick one) who was away at camp that day. He and I have the exact same colour eyes (greeny colour) and his are so expressive, I had to capture it. These pictures were actually taken by accident (think my husband was playing with the macro setting or something) but I thought PERFECT!!

Here's a picture of the "inspiration" layout I used. Found online and liked it - I print out a small picture of it with the pictures for the layout (use Photoshop and print on a 8.5 x 11 sheet of photo paper).

Here's PROOF, that I do screw up!! A few of the ladies I was teaching beginner scrapbooking too seem to think I never screw up and that it is only them who has to move stuff after they've stuck it down. LADIES, why do you think I am so good at coming up with ideas to cover/fix the boo-boos??? Cause I do it ALL the time!! This time, I'd started sticking it all down then realized I hadn't inked the edges like I wanted to.

PS Sorry, again mostly non-SU stuff! Used a Kraft cordoruy brad, the new Antique Trinkets and my two star punches/scallop edge punch!
PPS I'm working through 2010 so watch for February 2010 next week :) I file all my pictures by year/month/ then sub-folders if needed (ie 2010/April/Disneyland/California Adventure/To Print) And as I use the pictures, I rename the folders so 2010 now has January-scrapped inside it!

10 Minute Card Wednesday - #6!

This card was inspired by Linda over at "Where the Rubber Hits The Road". She had a great Stamping School area you can sign up for with fabulous videos. She was doing a great idea for a Christmas Stamp a Stack and I CASE'd her idea for this! Totally fast, probably more like 5 minutes!!

Instructions:

Cut and score a 5.5" x 8.5" base at 4.25" to make your card base (I used chocolate chip - had a scrap on my table).
Cut a piece of DSP to 4" x 4" and adhere to top or bottom of card.
Cut a piece of coordinating cardstock using the 2 3/8" scallop circle punch and another with the 1 3/4" punch (can skip this layer).
Stamp an image/sentiment on white or vanilla cardstock and punch with either a 1 3/4" or 1 3/8" circle punch (depends if you add that 2nd layer of cardstock - in mine the Cherry Cobbler).
Cut a 6" piece of ribbon. Attach to card using folding technique.
Adhere scalloped circle with layers over ribbon end and VOILA!! A quick and easy card.

Mojo Monday 152 - Two takes on the sketch.

I always try to do two cards at the same time when I am doing a challenge. Most times, I do them both the same and then have an extra to give and one to put on display for my card group. Today, I did them different as I want to give one away to someone at work for her birthday - and had a more elegant idea in my head for the sketch but thought she'd appreciate a more playful version.

I am impressed. Just got this one in today! I did this yesterday afternoon while my son was sleeping. He's been sick with a fever on and off since Saturday afternoon and we're home today on couch rest. I'll be napping today as well - I believe he woke me up approx 10x last night.

Sorry, not a lot of Stampin' Up content here - I am trying hard to use up old paper (this is mosty SL mixed years). A very simple and easy layout to case though. Top pictures are 3x4 and bottom was... 4x3 :)

Used my 1 3/8" circle punch and some designer buttons for that last little touch. BUT... sneak peek alert!!! Look at the fabulous labels (holding "goofy" and "silly")... me thinks that is a fantastic NEW PUNCH!! Holiday mini, can't wait!

Product Highlight - DSP pattern stacks

I wanted to highlight today the great DSP pattern stacks that were released in the new 2010-2011 catalog. They come in the "collections" of Brights (shown), Regals, Subtles, Neutrals and In Colors. There are 40 sheets in each stack with a total of 10 colors (In Colors are 5 colors but still 40 sheets). That is an awesome amount of paper for only $24.95. I have been scrapbooking and card making for close to 10-11 years now and I know my paper. I have a patterned paper ADDICTION. This stuff is good quality and has great patterns. I am only now learning to appreciate the greatness of tone on tone (which this is perfect for) and we all know how a simple tonal pattern can really add a great pop to a card!

These are next on my list of MUST HAVES - I'll be ordered all 5 stacks Friday (payday! LOL). I can't wait to play.

Peach Parfait - Outside my comfort zone...

So, I will confess, I wasn't thrilled with this colour. With all the new colours and In Colors, etc I figured that was okay. I was thrilled with quite a few others (Cherry Cobbler, Early Espresso, Wild Wasabi, Pear Pizzazz, Daffodil Delight, Marina Mist...). But when I went to make a card last night I said "SELF! You need to use a colour you haven't yet!" I couldn't bring myself to use pink (again, I don't know I've EVER make a pink card - some of you just gasped at me!) but I did grab the Peach Parfait and paired (haha, get it, paired) it with the Pear Pizzazz. I like it, I like it, LOL!!

I always make two cards as... well, one sheet of paper makes two card bases perfectly so why not!! I did them slightly differently to show you how to mix it up. The first I put the scalloped bordered to the right and added a brad to the center of my punched flowers. The second, I added our new pearls to the flowers and the bottom right corner.

Supplies: Cardstock: Peach Parfait, Pear Pizzazz, Whisper White, Crumb Cake. Ink: Classic Peach Parfait marker, Tangerine Tango stamp pad, Ribbon: Whisper White taffeta. Stamp set: Punched Posies, level 2 Hostess, Tools: Scalloped circle border punch, Big flower punch, 1" circle punch. Embellishments: Pearls, Filbrigee brads.

10 Minute Card Wednesday - It's back!!!

Hopefully for good - just like my Layout Mondays!! I hope you enjoy it.
This card was made with the new DSP Playdate. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the fresh, bright colours. I was a tich skeptical of this paper at first as I thought it was too... I don't know, kiddy or something (the block paper) but LOVE the rest and they are double sided so HEY, easy to just not use that side!! haha (SIDE NOTE: I think I love this paper so much as it is very close colours to the Write Stuff DSP of last year that was my all time fav DSP ever).

Product Highlight - Pearls and Rhinestones

Okay, I'll admit it, I love bling :) And when Stampin' Up put pearls and rhinestones into the new 2010-11 Idea Book... WOW, I was flying! So, very appropriate for me to have these as one of my highlights from my Top Ten list. Which, I realize I have never posted on here, so I will later in the week :)

I have already cracked open both sets (see previous posts! and most future ones too, LOL) and these are great. I have always loved using these on cards, they just add a little something extra and are less messy than glitter and glue when you are in a hurry. The next card I'm posting (sorry Fran, it will be up tomorrow) has rhinestones as accents on a punched butterfly - so pretty!

Monday's Layout - Let's see how I do!!

I was doing awesome having a layout up here every Monday and I'd love to get back to it! So here's the one I did today. It's not quite "finished" but I thought I'd show you where it is at. I could leave like this but it needs something, just haven't figured out yet what that something is :)

Supplies: Playdate and Write Stuff DSP (clouds are journal diecuts from Write Stuff turned around and inked on edges!), Cardstock: Bashful Blue, Whisper White; Classic Ink: Bashful Blue, Daffodil Delight; SU Marker: Marina Mist; SU twine; Scallop Edge punch; OTHER: Thickers and alpha stickers.

I was NOT happy with my card on Friday night so I went back to it and tried to "fix" it up a bit. I didn't take anything away but I added to it. Can you guess what I did??

Okay, I inked the raised (embossed) background with Not Quite Navy. I added rhinestones. I inked the edges of the big flower and then spritzed it. I inked a smaller flower and added it behind the brad. I added 2 more smaller flowers to the right bottom to balance it a bit.

Again, still not my favorite card in the world, but happier with this than the first try!!

This is by far not the favourite card I've ever made but, I thought I'd post anyways. I got my box of stuff today and just wanted to play. I used my Colour Coach and picked the combo Poppy Parade, Sahara Sand and Not Quite Navy.

Punched Posies

I've been dying to get back into my scrap room and get going!! I found a card HERE that truly inspired me to pull out the Punched Posies Hostess set and get going. My card is almost identical but I enjoyed getting out my stuff and working with some of the new colours. I also masked the flowers when I punched my leaves. (So they look like they are behind)

My room is still a mess (I was mid-clean-up when I left on vacation) but I just had to do a card. I'm thinking I'm going to do another after I finish this post and THEN go back to cleaning :)

New Stamp Sets - Highlight #1 - Perfect Punches

This is the Perfect Punches stamp set. New in the IBC 2010-2011. I love punching out sentiments so that is why I picked this as my first stamp set to highlight.

The sample below is not mine so please let me give credit to Jami Sheldon - she posted this online at Stampin Connection (the demonstrator's forum) and I thought it was so fabulous, I wanted to share.

It also highlights the new Greenhouse Gala DSP and the Friends Never Fade stamp set. She used Baja Breeze/Early Espresso/Real Red cardstock (far as I can tell!) and the new Marina Mist ribbon. Gorgeous colours!!

As you can see the Thanks Sentiment punches out great with the Scalloped Oval punch. I love it!! (I especially love the "Joy at Christmas" stamp as well. So pretty and layered on our new larger scalloped circle punch, I think stunning on a card front, package, tag, etc)

Teacher gift idea!!

Teacher gifts are always hard but when I found these apple post-it notes at Staples and this instantly designed itself in my head. (I'd seen some post-it note creations from an online forum so that sparked it!!)

This is a 5x7 acrylic frame from the dollar store that I slide a 5x7 background into. I used some school days themed patterned paper to create a fun layout to layer my cute apple ribbon, apple post-it notes and thank you message on (ribbon and message are on top of the frame).

Sneak Peek # 4 - picture now!

I did make a card last night but didn't get the picture taken yet! But I am going to add the description so I can just come back with the picture and be done!! - added picture now :)

This card mat was made using an Impressionables metal embossing plate and brayered with Early Espresso ink. I plan on making it again once I've received my new Impressions Folder from SU (Vintage Wallpaper). I was actually disappointed with the lack of crispness on the metal plate - although I know if you spritz with water that helps. The Impressions folders are super crisp and the embossing is very raised and obvious without water!

The image is from the Hostess Level 1 set - Because I Care (from Sneak Peek #2 but I wanted to do my own take). I stamped the image twice, once on the white mat and once on a scrap piece - both in Early Espresso to make it more vintage-y (if find black is harsher and takes away from this look). I coloured the scrap flower with some of our new colours - leaves in Pear Pizzazz (one of the new In Color for 2010-2012), the flower in three colours for depth - Concord Crush (new In Color), Perfect Plum and Baja Breeze (new colour but was an old In Color and one of my all time favs!!). I also stamped a few extra small flowers, colored and adhered on top of flower with dimensionals. I then cut the entire flower out and layered on the white mat with dimensionals. I think it really adds some "WOW" factor.

The sentiment is from a new stamp set (name escapes me at the moment, I think Punches for All) and I used the Oval and Scalloped Oval punches.

Sneak Peek #3 - Father's Day card

Sorry, there is very, very little sneak peek in this one!! Only the patterned paper I used is new stuff (and meant to make the suit Early Espresso and grabbed Chocolate Chip by mistake!!). The patterned paper is from the new Greenhouse Gala DSP and is all in lovely greens, blues and yellows. (close up underneath so you can see a bit better!

Sneak Peek #2

First off, let me say this is NOT my card or design. I snagged this from Mary Fish over at http://www.stampinpretty.com/. I look at her blog almost daily. She is a very creative demonstrator from the States. She has done a big series of Sneak Peeks on her blog and I highly recommend going to look.

That being said, a bunch of stuff I wanted to show you was on this card and I don't have it all yet!!

So, let's start with the Stamp Set - this is a LEVEL one hostess set called "Because I Care". The hydrangea is fabulous and I can see it coloured in purples on my next card to my mom or aunt. The background was done using the new Impressions folder called Vintage Wallpaper that was backordered on me (boo, I want it now!!). Pretty simple design with HUGE impact.

And the ribbon on the box is in the new colour Early Espresso which I am loving. I have always loved Chocolate Chip but it is a bit of a reddish brown. Early Espresso is a true brown and I think (prediction coming) will be a hands down new favourite and best seller.

Sneak Peek #1

Here's some Father's Day cards using three of the new colours available July 1st!! The base of the cards is Early Espresso, the mat embossed with the Lattice Impressions Folder (Summer Mini) is Daffodil Delight and the Scallop Rectangle (a clear Sizzlit in the NEW 2010-2011 catalog) is Marina Mist. I stamped the sentiment (Well Scripted set) in Early Espresso and the images in either Early Espresso or Marina Mist.

This one I spritzed the background with the new Log Cabin Smooch Sprtiz and used the Sentimental Journey stamp set out of the Summer Mini (my father-in-law loves to travel).

This one I sponged the background with Early Espresso for a softer, vintage look and included only the car (my dad loves cars and we had a Yugo when I was really little). I also used linen thread and a button from the Button Latte set which is retiring.

A big Stampin' up day tomorrow!! Tomorrow is when the retiring list is posted. I am going to be away on a work trip but promise to get it up here as quick as I can. If any of your favourites are on there, get them as quickly as you can!! They go quick and once they are gone, they are gone.

Also, for demonstrators, we get our first sneak peek at some new products from the new 2010-2011 catalog!! I can't share those but only a month until I can! I promise to share my creations with my preorder goodies once I can.

New Stamp Review

So I haven't been on my blog much at all for a couple months and really have no excuse other than... I've just been busy living life!! But I want to get back on here inspring you and showing you what inspires me. Today, I wanted to highlight a stamp set I just received yesterday in an order. I usually look around on the internet for ideas when I order stamp sets and these super talents ladies just took my breath away. (I have included the link to both of their sites for you - all credit to them, I didn't make either of these cards!!)

The set I chose was the Bouquet Bunch that is in the new Summer Mini catalog (link on side to pdf of catalog). I think this is a super cute multi-purpose set that you could just use for ever!! You can colour, ink, pastel, emboss, etc, etc, etc... I love nice simple sets that have so many possibilities.

This card is one from Lori Hunter - http://divastamper.blogspot.com/2010/05/window-for-mom.html that I think is totally fabulous. It is one of the cutest cards I've seen in a while. I especially love how she did the awning.

This next one is from Amy O'Neill. I couldn't find a blog for her but will keep looking and add the link if I find it. I love the colours she uses. So fresh and bright! It also features the new Lattice Impressions Folder which I think is wonderful. I am finding good excuses to use it and I love how she used it as an accent in the red. It just pops the flowers!

Hope you like this set as much as I do. I hope to post the cards from my May card group soon.

Color Renovation

Stampin' Up is doing renovations!! It is out with old, and sometimes tired colours and in with a few new and a few favourite returning In-colours. I for one am very excited with the change. They have kept a few similar names for these colour collections, but mixed the colours up in really eye-pleasing and inspiring ways.

Any colours you don't see in the new colour collections are retiring. Stock up on any favourites while you still can!! They are only around while supplies last or June 30th... whichever comes first.

Got this finished late last night! But posted this am. Here's your weekly 10 minute card. Very simple and quick using a few things from the Mini - Embosslits Beautiful Wings, Tiny Tags stamp set (CM), Sending Love DSP and the Choc. Chip Satin Ribbon. I also used CC cardstock/ink and the Curly Label punch. What you can't tell is that pink paper is glittered (comes that way)!! It is so pretty. And the butterflies come out die cut and embossed... so gorgeous.

I used my inspiration from this card in the newest SU magazine for demonstrators.

10 Minute Card Wednesday - #5!

Another week, another 10 minute card I am impressed I got done in time - LOL! This card was inspired by a card done by Mary Fish (http://www.stampinpretty.com/) quite a while back. Her's was grey, green and cream. I wanted to brighten mine up and make it more springy.

It took me no time at all to die cut these leaves and stems (my fav Sizzlit, well, right behind the new butterfly embossing one!) It was two punches of my Trio Flower punch for the flowers and a quick poke with my paper piercer to deal with the brads. Adhere it all down and voila. A pretty, springy card!

Materials: Card blank, Sending Love DSP, Write Stuff DSP (flowers), Old Olive cardstock, Trio Flowers punch, Modern Label punch, Little Leaves Sizzlit die, gold brads, Old Olive grosgrain ribbon, Melon Mambo Classic ink, Short & Sweet stamp set.

Tuesday - Bonus layout!

Here's my layout for today! I did this last night from last week's 52 week challenge over at Janna Wilson's blog (HERE). This picture was taken in November. Not technically for our anniversary or anything but... I'm used it as that. 12 years in 2009! Together for 17 years that month. And still smiling :) I love this picture as we both find the humour in all that happens (we have kids, you have to laugh or you'd strangle them) and we use that to get us through the hard times.

Janna's inspiration layout is below. I went with soft, muted fall colours to go with the time of year it was and to match the background colours.

10 Minute Card Wednesday - #4!!

10 minute card #4. Easy, easy, easy. I saw something similar on a blog last week but darned if I can find it right now. I loved the simplicity of it but still draws your eye. I used four 1" squares punched from the 6x6 "Welcome Neighbour" DSP paper pack in the SAB catalogue (I LOVE free stuff!!) and used the other side of the paper to finally use my newest Big Shot die - "Beautiful Wings" emblosslit folder. They are cut and dry embossed. So beautiful (and there is a larger butterfly too that cuts at the same time. Saving that for another card). I also took a quick snap of the supplies I used. I forgot the 1" square punch :) I used Melon Mambo to ink the edges of the squares and also to stamp the sentiment from the Well Scripted set. This set I have in Clear Mount - it is a new one from the Occasions Mini. LOVE it! I have a girlfriend who has been trying for a while to get pregnant (early fall but waiting for much longer than that for a vasectomy reversal first) and I just have this feeling that I might get to send her this soon. I so hope I am right. She would be so happy to have one to call her own.

Monday's layout

Okay, I missed Friday! I'll admit it... but I did do three posts last week :)

Here's my layout for this week (and Janna's to follow likely tomorrow for the 52 week challenge).

This is the layout for class #2 of my Beginning to Scrapbook class that starts on February 17th. I am excited, my first scrapbooking classes. This layout is done with "The Write Stuff" DSP and So Saffron Cardstock. It isn't quite finished as I am going to use the new mini background stamp "Dot, Dot, Dot" to versamark, heat N' stick and then glitter the chipboard letters with blue glitter. Won't that look super cool??!!

10 Minute Card Wednesday - #3

Here's my third installment of the 10 minute card. I did this card entirely with scraps!

Cover 5x4 card blank with red cardstock. Cut white mat to 4.5 x 3.5 and adhere to red.
Cut strip of scrap patterned paper to 5" wide and approx 1.5-2" high. Using contrasting pp, cut strip to 5" wide and approx 1" higher than previous strip. Using edge punch for bottom edge. Adhere together allowing contrasting pp to show at top and bottom.
Adhere scrap ribbon to pp with left edge cut at an angle.
Using red and white cardstock, punch out a large and small tag. Using marker, add "dots" all along edge of white tag and stamp with greeting. Adhere together, punch hole in top and thread with hemp twine (or ribbon).
Adhere tag to card with dimensionals and add buttons or other embellishments to bottom.
Done! I timed myself at 8 minutes start to finish and I had to restamp my tag as I rocked it a bit :)

I just sat down last night and whipped out the card. I guess I liked it so much it was burned into my brain. But I always say, give credit where credit is due!! Just had to make it...

It is my bedtime and I was going up to bed when my eye landed on my new SAB set "Vintage Labels". All of the sudden a card was born in my head and I thought "I better do a quick sketch of this so I can do it tomorrow". Then I was impatient with the sketch and raced downstairs to just DO the card. No idea why, and a colour combo I am fairly sure I've never done before! I used the circle stamp in Crushed Curry (first time I even used that ink pad, I like it!) and punched it out with the scallop circle punch. Then I used a 1" punch on the middle. The stamped image was raised up on the card with dimensionals and the sentiment is actually inside the card. (as you can see just down below). I also used the "Tiny Tags" set for that pretty vine about and below the sentiment.

The paper is from the SAB 6x6 paper pad and that is the new Satin ribbon in Chocolate Chip, isn't it almost edible??

So, take some time (that you were going to be sleeping) and do something scrappy tonight :) haha

I am LOVING this and seriously, once I wrapped my little scrappy brain around this, this is a 10 minute card for me! But I thought I'd use this for my Friday surprise post instead.

Isn't this just fabulous? I mean, really, this is fabulous. And the Upsy Daisy set is truly one of my all time favourites. I reach for it all the time and have to stop myself. It is a very easy technique that makes your Stamp-a-ma-jig your friend. Even with the Clear Mount stamps, I still think I'd use the Stamp-a-ma-jib as you are trying to just be slightly off.

Instructions:

1. Pick a cardstock colour and pull the same colour ink, white and versamark (versamark is optional but really I think it makes it).
2. Stamp your image on the cardstock in white ink. Clean stamp and ink up with the same colour stamp.
3. Using your Stamp-a-ma-jig, position your image just slightly off (down the left or up to right, I did down to the left). Stamp with the same colour ink. Clean stamp and ink up with Versamark.
4. Using your Stamp-a-ma-jig, again, position your image just slightly off again (off the same colour ink) and stamp your image.
5. NOW, your image looks like it is popping off the page, 3D!

Figuring out how to customize. It's this cool that I can do this? I used the digital version of the new Sweet Pea DSP from the Occasions Mini!! So excited!! And rocking my latest colour fav, orange and teal. Hope you like.

10 minute card Wednesday - #2!!

If this is not a go-to card when you really need to knock one out... I seriously don't know what is! I did this card in about 6 minutes flat (now if your scraproom isn't as meticulously organized as mine, you might take longer looking for stuff. ROTFL, seriously I can't even type that without laughing... ) Really, as long as you don't have to hunt for your punches for 20 minutes, this card is done in a snap. A go-to masculine card, I am in HEAVEN. (kudos to www.lindastamps.com - this design from her Stamping School videos)

And an added bonus today, here's the supplies needed to punch. The only thing missing is my mat pack, I'd put it away but you can easily do without it. AND, I used the Welcome Neighbour 6x6 paper pad from the SAB catalogue. I LLOOVVEE the colours. My new colour obsession, Bermuda Bay, Tangerine Tango and white... ooohhh la la!!

52 Week Challenge - Week 3!!

My layouts for Janna Wilson's 52 week challenge. Her layout is quite obviously the last one in the post. I found these 3 pictures of each boy in my digital picture library. Seriously, I have no idea why their dad took exactly three pictures of each and how each picture was so different yet similar to the other brother. It was like they knew I would need 3 pictures each... do do do, do do do do... twilight zone :)

Each layout can stand on it's own but when beside each other (like they will be in my 2009 album, they also mean more. (ie Silly works for my older son and Faces works for my younger son but when side by side, Silly Faces makes sense too.... And the "OH' and the "BOY" on the bottom corners). Take some time to do something scrappy today!

Layout Monday

So I was at a crop last night and was super smart enough to do some prep first :) (Prep I find kind of annoying cause if I'm prepping, I'd rather just be DOING!, another story for another time).

I thought I'd share the two birthday layouts I did. Star Wars is my 7 year old's party from August of this year and Tranformer Party is my 5 year old's party from July. For both, I downloaded the font for free from the internet, installed on my computer, typed out in Word, printed in colour on photo paper and then I just cut it out. (seriously, that was super simple but I need to reinstall my Silhouette and I wouldn't even have to do the cutting!) Both of these layouts are from Got Sketch Doubles class that was held in the fall.

Tomorrow I'll post my 52 week challenge "inspired" layouts - yes, layouts, I did two as I found pictures of both my boys and so did them as a "single" layout that looks good side by side (wow, that doesn't make much sense, pictures will help).

AND, watch for the 2nd week in a row of 10 minute card Wednesday!! Got a super cute and FAST one for you!

Unmounting Your Wood Mount Sets

Okay, who else would LOVE more room in their scrap room?? Who else loves how crisp rubber stamps are but hate the bulk of the wood mount... raise your hands? Anyone other than me got their hands up out there?

Well, I am in the process of unmounting and boy, did I find the BEST TIP EVER yesterday online. If the set is unmounted or mounted this still works....

Unmounted: Take the sticker that is meant for the back of the wood block and place it on the foam side of your stamp (remove backing first so it's sticky!). Trim off excess. Put a VERY small amount of Tombow liquid adhesive (SU sells) and using a foam brush, spread a thin coat over entire back surface. Leave to dry. The Tombow remains tacky and VOILA, the stamp is now a clear mount cling...

Mounted: Gently peel your stamp off the block, leaving the foam in place. If you are having trouble, put in the microwave for like 10 seconds and this softens it up and allows you to remove. Gently peel label off wood block and just as with the unmounted instructions, put on sticky side of foam. If it needs some help, use a bit of snail to keep it down. Trim off excess, do the fabulous Tombow trick and VOILA!!

I will post some pictures of the "process" tomorrow. I got so excited tonight, I just went for it and didn't take pictures along the way.

Friday - Surprise!!

Here's a surprise layout for Friday! I did this after being inspired by a layout in CK magazine that I just got in my mailbox. I sat down and hammered it out. These pictures are from 2004 when my youngest was only a month old. I had that piece of pp I wanted to use so just scanned through my digital picture library until I found some that I liked with it.

I did some close ups of the star to show you I used a jumbo grommet between to large and small stars (SU punches).

I did a close up of the title to show you how I outlined the alpha stickers. I felt they didn't contrast quite enough so use a white gel pen. Also, I stamped some circle accents in Very Vanilla craft ink on my cardstock to just add a slight bit of interest up there and to match the circle pattern in the pp!

Wednesday - 10 Minute Cards!

Wow, I did it. And I already have my Friday all lined up. Who's impressed? Feel free to leave me a comment if you like my new idea of 10 minute cards! I am going to try for every Wednesday so stay tuned!!

I was shamefully inspired from Linda over at http://www.lindastamps.com/! I subscribe to her Stamping School videos and they are the best. I changed up her card a bit (for reasons like I didn't have that DSP and I wanted to try to add in a colour). SIMPLE, SIMPLE, SIMPLE!! I did both of these cards in 10 minutes. Small strip of Old Olive right at the top and a 2" strip of DSP. The dangly is from the Scallop Circle punch, the trio flower punch, a jumbo grommet (that white between the circle and the flowers) and a cordoruy button brad. I used Kiwi Kiss (In Color from last year) and Tangerine Tango (again IC last year) for some contrast and stamped a quick sentiment. 10 minutes, both cards, I kid you not!!

Layout Mondays

That makes it sound like I'm going to be organized to do layouts every Monday, eh? Well, I'm going to start trying. I was thinking of something everyday but... maybe every other day? Like a layout on Mondays, a card on Wednesdays and a surprise thing on Fridays?? Anyone gonna hold me to it?? This is a double page layout I did using a Got Sketch sketch from their Doubles class. We went to the Aquarium in August and got tons of great pictures but it is pretty hard to scrap them all and I refuse to do more than a double layout now for each event. Unless it is a weekly long thing that is. (like Hawaii... sigh, Hawaii... I am definately in the middle of winter up here and dreaming of some sun) The layout let me fit in 12 pictures effortlessly!

January Card Group - The Cards!!

I had posted sneak peeks of these cards 2 weeks ago and now that my ladies have had their chance to make them, here is the real deal. The first card allowed me to use one of my fav stamps in the 2009/2010 Idea Book - DASHER!! I am going to miss him alot and hope they bring him back next year (but I own him so I can keep using him no matter what!). This card is completely inspired by Linda at Stamping School: here's her blog. I subscribe to her Stamping School videos and this was one of her projects. As I was mass producing it, we used Dazzling Diamonds instead of the Chunky Glitter which I suspect would work a lot better. But... with 15 cards to prep and not being able to buy white Chunky Glitter on it's own... we did the Dazzling Diamonds :) Here is my Surprise Pop-up card. It uses the new Sweet Pea DSP in a colour combo I can't say I've rocked too much but love. Teal and orange! The image on the front is from the new Happy Moments set in the SAB catalogue. Four great line images to colour in. We'll be using again!!

And lastly my "Make a Wish" pop-up card, this time we used the Sizzlets Cupcake dies that were on sale in December. Super, super cute!! I used So Saffron with my Taken with Teal this time and the same DSP... I like to be efficient with my scraps but this paper pad is HUGE... I've barely used any of it! A VERY, VERY good deal on paper! I hope the new idea book has more paper pads in it. LOVE it! And it isn't a girlie, girlie or flowery, flowery patterned paper either so AWESOME for scrapbooking... watch for a layout with it very soon.

This card also makes use of the Big Bold Birthday's set for the balloons and sentiment!

Inspired Layout #2

So here's my layout inspired by Janna Wilson's 52 week Challenge over at her blog (her layout is below). I went with a different orientation for my 4x6 but otherwise mine is very, very close. I used stars rather than circles at the bottom to mimic the stars in the one paper and used a punched out piece of DSP (that star in a circle in the top left) rather than a stamp. This is an old Stampin' Up DSP from years ago called Outlaw that I never used. (And sorry for the nasty flashback on one of the pictures, I did this layout in 20 minute and wanted to picture and post right away!! So I think it took me longer to pick my pictures and resize/print than it did to make it!)
