The End

I finished this layout on Friday afternoon.  It was one of those really tough ones. I was over thinking it and moving stuff around and around... finally I picked up all the pieces and dropped them :)  With very minor moving I glued them down.  I love that photo so much and really wanted to make the layout it went on special.  Problem was I was putting too much pressure on myself as really... if I decided later it wasn't right, I can change it or rip it up and reprint the picture.

I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and love the contrast with the brownish-grey and the turquoise.  The wood veneer butterflies went on at the very end when I really knew I needed something beside the camera sticker to cover the awkward end of the label sticker.  But I really like to flow of the butterflies down the page.  I think I will sprinkle just a touch of white paint on the diagonal line but... waiting for it to show up :)

PS Wanna know how I got my "THE" in the title?  I cut my Amy Tangerine "Journal" thickers to make them shorter and then brushed them with white chalk ink.  In person it looks a bit distressed and a soft grey.

Yee- ha... rodeo...

Okay, it's a bike rodeo not a rodeo rodeo but still, it's fun to say Yee-HA!  My boys are in different schools as a result of our move in December so I went and volunteered at both rodeos. Result... next to impossible to help and take pictures at the same time.  End result... totally crap pictures :)  But I managed one of each boy on their bikes and thus made the best of it.

This is mainly using the Summer Wind kit from Noel Mignon (bought limited edition, sorry don't know what month!) which was fabulous.  Lots of My Minds Eye which I love.  MME and Pink Paislee are really catching my eye lately!!

Fairly simple layout this time with an approx 10.5x10.5 block of pp and a mat for the 2-4x6 photos.  I layered in a few cards, some border strips, a piece of washi tape to hide that my photo didn't quite fit properly (oops on the cutting) and done.

Happy Camping...

And ironic title if I ever did one.  This layout is from our July long weekend trip with my husbands brother's family.  We had my nephew break his leg the week before we went (effectively cutting off most of the activites we had planned for the kids), it was cold and rainy, my BIL was NOT feeling well at all (ended up he was actually quite sick!), etc, etc, etc... But despite all that we still had fun, got in some mini golf, had awesome camping food and time to relax.  Again, I am still in love with my tent trailer (and more specifically the furnace in said tent trailer).   After this camping trip it got HOT and stayed hot for more than 6 weeks.  Go figure!!

All the photos were taken in my iPhome with Instagram using the Kelvin filter - thus the white edges and slight yellowish tones. It was very grey out those days so that helped a bit but now on my layout they do look really yellow.  (oh well, they are scrapped!!).  I used the Echo Park mini theme "The Great Outdoors" for almost the entire layout.  The light brown woodgrain is a leftover Stampin Up pp as I was out of the fabulous dark woodgrain that comes with the kit (other side of the plaid).  I also used those fabulous woodgrain Thickers (I LOVE THICKERS, in case no one noticed yet) and the small round "Happy" is October Afternoon Mini Markets which are also fabulous.

Club CK sketch

Here's another layout I did based on a sketch challenge. I noticed the Creating Keepsakes also had an August sketch so I thought I'd play along.  I decided to "double down" on it too and use the challenge from over at Scrapbookin' Adventures to use red, cream, gray and black.  NOT colours I traditionally use but once I had a piece of pp to start out from (the fabulous grey woodgrain from Authentique) I was rolling. Then I also remembered that Jenni Bowlin has awesome red, cream and black stuff too!

Here it is:  (another 2011 layout done, whoot whoot)

August Sketch Challenge

Well, I took so long to get the July one done I thought I'd do the August one right away :)  Here is my take on the August sketch challenge over at Noel Mignon.  I changed it up a bit as their's had circles and I continued the banner theme and added the triangles pointing to the picture.  I journaled right onto the page which is new to me and a bit hard at first to just put pen to paper.  But think it looks okay and next time I'll do better.

My fav thing about this layout? (other than the colours and that this is another 2011 one done!) Is that I finally stamped on a layout!!  I always see people doing it, think it looks great and then don't.  So I finally did. Helped that the August kit had a fabulous little stamp set in it (Dear Lizzy by American Crafts - the camera and the "Smile")
