Project Life process video

A quick post to let you know I got a process video done today and uploaded.  I used up the scraps from my January Hip Kit to get 2 weeks of my January Project Life done.

Thanks for stopping by!  Next up is a walk through of my portable Project Life bag that I take with me whenever I have to hang out for a while waiting on my kiddos.

Second layout with the January Hip kit

Here is my 2nd layout using this month's kit.  I will be totally honest, I REALLY struggled with this layout!!  I did some misting, gesso, 3 discarded backgrounds, changed the orientation, changed BACK the orientation to finally land here.  And here I am good with.  It is not quite where I had wanted it but... it highlights the photo and that was really what I had wanted.  I think I was just struggling with the floral paper from Heidi Swapp.  It is stunningly beautiful and even though this has just one, relatively simple, photo... I was stuggling to keep the paper from being the star.  I ended up gessoing it a bit (a bit unevenly but think I kind of like that actually).  It softened it just a bit and let me move on to finishing it.

You can't tell from the photos, despite me really trying, that there is a very faint pink mist on the upper half.  It is white cardstock that looked just a bit too stark white so I actually sprayed Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Blush on a baby wipe and gently dabbed it on.  It is very soft and gave me the look I was going for (I had really wanted just a very soft pink cs but did not have any!).

Oh, I almost forgot to mention!! I used the current sketch (#424) from Scrapbook Challenges to get me started on this layout.  I only had 1 photo though so changed it up a bit that way.

Thanks for stopping by!!  I should be back tomorrow with a HUGE HUGE HUGE project I have been working... photographing my entire 2014 album series. Wow, if I even feel like I don't get to scrap enough... I will just go take photos of 3 albums full of creations again.

"Kill a Kit" using the December 2014 Hip Kit

Hi everyone!  I certainly had a heck of a good time playing with my December Hip Kit!!  I had such a good time that all I really had left were some branding strips.  And I actually have plans for those (check out this killer sketch, perfect for these!!)

So without further ado, here is my video showing you all my layouts and I will include stills here as well.

And there you have it. A kit successfully killed. I forgot to take a photo of what was left of my kit but do show it at the end of the video... so, you will have to go watch it!! :)

Thanks for stopping by!!

Creative Scrappers - Sketch 255

Sorry, a quick break in my studio tour to post my version of the CS Sketch 255.  I need to retake the layout shot tomorrow (it's evening here so I can't get a shot without a shade of me in front of the light!) but wanted to post.

Here is the original sketch:

And here is my version!  I used a mix of the Sept & Oct Noel Mignon kits as well as some Heidi Swapp Color Shine in Navy (from the new Nov kit as I just could NOT keep my hands off of it!!).

Here's a close up of the top embellishments. I kept this layout pretty simple.  This was my son's1st birthday (the aftermath of his first cake eating) so finally got to use this wood veneer 1!!

Close up of the title and large star. Can you see how GORGEOUS the new Heidi Swapp navy is?  Oh I'm in love!!!

Be back soon with the rest of my studio tour!

Summer of Colour - Video #3

So I THOUGHT I hadn't done a layout for this video and then realized I HAD!  I had watched her video about using neutrals or black to go with a photo that had a lot of colour or you really wanted to empathsize, and then shortly afterward I was participating in a crop and wanted to use this picture that my husband took on a camping trip recently:

The challenge was to include stars in the layout and I wanted to do a twist on that and I really wanted the fire to stand out the way it does when you are out camping and darkness falls.  So I did this layout below.  I can tell you very honestly I have NEVER used black cardstock as a base for a layout before. EVER.  Not even on a Halloween page!

After several tries I used mist to mimic the night sky on black cardstock (Heidi Swapp Gold Lame mist).  It was very hard to photograph but in person... I think it's wow.  Even my 9-year-old son said "Mommy, how did you find paper that looks like the sky at night?"  When I told him I made it look like that.. well, he was pretty impressed with me :)

Have a scrappy day!!
